At Mount Carmel Baptist Church, we're always excited to welcome new visitors. We invite you to come and join us as we worship and glorify God. We will try to make your visit as comfortable and spiritual as possible.
Our Church is located at 5732 Race St. The Church has 3 small Parking Lots. One lot is located on the corner of 57th St. and a second lot is on the corner of 58th St. There is also a lot behind the Church on Cherry St. If you have mobility restrictions or young children to carry, try to park on the Street in one of the spots closest to the Church door. However you will need to get there early because the spaces go quickly.
We truly believe people should come to God as they are. You don't need to dress up to get his approval--that comes through Jesus' sacrifice. So please don't worry about what to wear when you attend our Church Service. At Mount Carmel you will see that the congregation has all types of people, in all kinds of dress. While most men in the Church wear ties and women wear hats; others like to remind them that Jesus never wore a tie and that God will bless even if you don’t wear a hat.
Here's what you can expect when you come to our 10:00 a.m. Sunday Worship Service. You will be met by a Greeter from the Hospitality Ministry and/or the Ushers Ministry. They are usually stationed at the doors and the Welcome Desk. They are there to welcome you and point out the logistics of the building. They will give you the Worship Service Program and can show you the location of the restrooms, the Sanctuary and Fellowship Area. If you have any questions about the service itself, they are able to provide helpful answers.
The Worship Service follows an orderly progression. We have prayers, scripture reading, announcements, lots of singing by our various choirs and challenging and comforting sermons from our Pastor. The service is not long but the message conveyed through the songs of the choirs and by the preaching of God’s word, leaves us uplifted, encouraged and blessed for having been in the house of the Lord.
When you come to Mount Carmel, please plan to stay awhile after the service. Our Pastoral Staff looks forward to greeting you and shaking your hand. You'll also have a chance to meet our Pastor and many other people in the Church. This time of fellowship, will help us get to know you and you will be a familiar face the next time you come to visit. We trust that as we welcome your presence with us, you will feel the love of God that we want to share.
